What is Psychology Club?
Psych Club is a club is a great way to get involved in the psychology department. Psych Club provides opportunities to attend lectures, social events, and networking opportunities for our members.
How do I join?
Applications are available on blackboard, in the Psi Chi office, LS 114, or during meetings. Fill out an application and turn it in with payment, $15, by October 23rd, 2009. Applications may be turned in to the psychology department, during meetings, or during Psi Chi office hours which are posted outside of our office. If no one is there, please slide the packet under the door.
How do I know if I accepted into Psych Club?
Applications will be reviewed beginning October 23rd, 2009. As soon as we look at your application you will be accepted and an e-mail will be sent out with a notification. Psych Club is not selective with their applicants. Anyone can join and they do not need to be a psychology major or minor.
What is the criterion to be in Psych Club?
Have a passion for psychology. All majors are welcome!
When can I start to be active in the club?
ASAP. Even though you may not have been informed of your application process, please come to our events and start to earn your points. The more you participate the more you will enjoy the club.
What are points and what does it mean to be active?
Points are earned by attending events and meetings. In order to be "active" you must earn 18 points each semester. Many members earn more than that because points are so easily accessible. For each Psych Club meeting, Wednesdays 1-2 HT 183, you earn 1 point. We also offer points for attending events, lectures, brown bags, walks, and socials.
Active membership means that you have earned 18 points for two semesters. In the past, there has not been merchandise for Psych Club, but we are currently working on that! Merchandise will only be sold during the end of spring semester if available. You can count one semester of active membership in Psych Club and one semester in Psi Chi to get merchandise for both clubs.
What's in it for me?
Psychology Club is open to anyone who wants to join! The good news is that all of the events and meetings for Psi Chi and Psychology Club are combined! In fact, many members start out in Psychology Club until they are eligible to be a member of Psi Chi also. This way they can get a head start on meeting people, attending events, and gaining the active points they will need in Psi Chi. Between the two, there is something for everyone! Additionally, being a member demonstrates excellence in the field of psychology.
Where are the meetings?
Weekly meetings are held in HT 183 on Wednesdays from 1-2.
How can I get involved?
Fill out an application and start attending events. Easy as that!
How do I become an officer?
Officer positions are available for an academic year. We interview for new officers at the end of spring semester. If you are considering being an officer, we encourage you to talk to officers and get involved as much as you can. There are always extra things that need to be done, and you can start helping out now. Let us know if you are interested!
